Our members contribute to Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy within Australia while receiving a variety of benefits including discounts, advertising, event previews and more.

We are a non-for-profit organisation and exist through the generosity of our volunteer committees. We are dedicated to lifting the profile of orofacial myofunctional therapy in Australia. The association would like to welcome all new and existing members to take an active role in our association.

Myofunctional therapy is not a qualification, it is a modality that can be applied within the existing scope of practice of registered health professionals. Your scope of practice will determine your membership within our association and outline the application of such practice in a clinical setting. As a general rule, the application of myofunctional therapy begins around the age of 3 years. However, if you are a speech pathologist and your scope of practice includes infant feeding therapy, then the application of myofunctional therapy in the realm of feeding therapy is appropriate.

To move this modality forward in a positive light, our respect for evidence-based practice must remain at the centre of what we do. As a member, you agree to abide by our code-of-ethics to ensure a high standard of care. The application of myofunctional therapy should be viewed as a valuable adjunct to multidisciplinary care of the stomatognathic system. It is not a ‘natural’ or ‘alternative’ treatment.

Our association is not affiliated or endorsed by any specific companies or individualised methodologies. Education in this space is not limited to a 28-hour introductory course, rather an ongoing commitment to professional education from reputable people and institutions.

We want to invite all health professionals to become a part of our association to learn, to grow and to connect for a better future. As a member, you will have access to our online membership area with CPD and networking opportunities. You will be the first to receive updates of all orofacial myology news in Australia. You will have the option to be listed on our health professional’s online directory listing. You will be a part of our wonderful, passionate and dedicated community
